Roatán, Honduras, September 20, 2024 - In light of recent legal developments, good faith investors from the United States and around the world are gravely concerned about their future in Honduras. So are thousands of Honduran entrepreneurs, workers, and their families. Próspera would like to remain unwavering in its commitment to the progress and prosperity of Honduras. But the path forward for our community of over 1,800 residents, physical and electronic, and 235 registered businesses is unclear and perilous. Trust in legal stability has been lost.
Can that trust be recovered among good faith investors in Honduras? Perhaps it starts with recognizing the importance of establishing a clear framework for existing ZEDE investments; one that signals good faith investors are welcome, safeguards the livelihoods of our Honduran workers and their families, and also protects residents and registered businesses. A crashing halt to job creation, innovation, and investment should not be the only option.
Our top priority is to protect our entire community of stakeholders who have invested in the future of Honduras. The honor of Honduras is at stake, and it is essential to protect good faith investment that has contributed to its growth and development.
