February 7th, 2023. The International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) has completed its screening process and registered the Request for Arbitration filed by the Próspera Group against the Republic of Honduras. ICSID has also been in contact with the parties regarding the next steps, which include the selection of the two remaining arbitrators who are to hear Claimants’ claims arising from their investment in Próspera ZEDE.
Erick Brimen, CEO of Honduras Próspera, Inc. stated: “We are pleased that ICSID has accepted the Request for Arbitration allowing our case to move forward. As Honduras has been unwilling to resolve this dispute amicably, we have gone to an international tribunal to uphold the rule of law. Próspera is confident of its legal position and that the rule of law will prevail. At the same time, Próspera remains willing to enter into discussions with the Government of Honduras following international best practices in an effort to find an amicable resolution for the benefit of both Próspera and the people of Honduras.”
More information on the case is available on the [ICSID website].
